Mobile Safaris
A mobile safari is your chance to follow in the footsteps of the original explorers in Africa. Sometimes termed "overland safari" they are led by professional guides who accompany a small convoy of the camp staff for a self-contained journey throughout the Wilderness. At the top end of the scale, the mobile tents have proper beds, en suite bathrooms with hot showers, your own chef, and even a mobile bar. The simple options using private campsites still offer relative comfort with a shared shower and toilet and comfortable mattresses, there is even a separate mess and bar tent or dine out under the stars depending on the season. Whatever grade of safari you choose, one thing is certain, camping no longer means having to rough it. Mobile safaris are designed for small groups of between 6 and 12 guests or tailor-made private groups. This ensures that you enjoy exclusivity and personal attention.
Walking Safaris
The Swahili word for "safari" means a long journey, and was adopted during the 19th century into the English language as "safari" by explorers, hunters and missionaries - today it refers to travel by land, water or foot.
Walking Safaris can take place for a few hours or over a number of days, generally through a wilderness area and sometimes camping at different locations each night. It is a truly special experience as you take in creatures great and small, watch herds of elephants, and learn about the birds and the small things, such as the interesting dung beetle. The walking area should generally support plains game including giraffe, impala, kudu, wildebeest or "the herbivores", as well as Big game and the "Big 5", lion, leopard rhino, buffalo, and elephant.
